Troops of 19 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ 5 Sector Assam Rifles, has organised a free medical camp under Op Sadbhavna on February 2 and 3 at Orphanage and Destitute Home and Jotsoma village in Kohima distrct.
A Assam Rifles press release said a total of 68 children, 37 male and 31 female were administered necessary medical treatment and free medicines by Maj Vitthal Bhujannavar, Assam Rifles Medical Officer and his team.
A total number of 81 villagers including 20 male, 44 female and 17 children attended the medical camp at Jotsoma and were administered with free medicines and check up at T Khel -3 in Jotsoma village.
Patients with a variety of ailments including respiratory tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, skin infections etc were treated and provided medicines.
Meanwhile, the administration of Orphanage and Destitute Home and residents of Jotsoma village have expressed gratitude to Assam Rifles for the humanitarian act.
In a related programme, 37 Assam Rifles has organised a free medical camp in Khabvuma village in Kohima district on February 3, where the medical team under medical officer of 37 Assam Rifles provided medical aid and distributed free medicines to the locals of the region.
During the camp, a total of 386 patients including 149 males, 190 females and 47 children were given medical treatment and medicines for various ailments.
In addition, lectures were also organized for increasing awareness on important issues like communicable diseases, family planning, health and hygiene.
A friendly volley- ball match was also played between the teams of Khabuvma village and 37 Assam Rifles.
The locals have appreciated the initiative Assam Rifles and expressed their gratitude for free medical check-up at their doorstep.
