Contentious issues have been resolved: Zeliang

After the triumphant vote in the house Thursday, Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang said the air has been cleared and contentious issues resolved at the highest decision making body in democracy.
He appealed the “misguided NPF MLAs” to return to the party fold as the doors were open, but cautioned that continuance of “anti-party activities” would be appropriately dealt with. Zeliang stated this during the press conference held at his official residence after the assembly session on Thursday.
The chief minister said that the curtains have finally come down on the political crisis that was created by non-issues which were blown out of proportion . Zeliang said that from the very inception the supposed political uncertainty could have been averted but for the misguidance by “vested interests”.
He said the result of the vote in the special session, exposed the hollowness of the claims of those who sought the dismissal of his government and expressed gratefulness to the Almighty God for the triumph of truth. Zeliang also said the vote laid bare the senseless and baseless blitz of propaganda through newspapers, poster campaigns in the streets and the social networks
Zeliang said truth and moral standards has been the biggest casualty in the campaigns to overthrow his government.
Responding to Kaito’s stand that the issue was an internal matter of the NPF, the chief minister asked why Kaito’s group refused to attend the NPF legislature party and DAN legislature party meetings and their demand for dismissal of his government?
He expressed gratitude to NPF party president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu , office bearers and workers of the NPF party, parties of DAN coalition, Congress party and Independent legislators for extending support to DAN council of ministers.
He said the vote was not only for his government but also a victory for the legislators across party lines. Chief Minister gave his assurance that his government would work collectively to arrive at the solution to the Naga political issue and to hasten economic development to make Nagas self reliant.
He informed that on February 8, the prime minister has convened meeting for the chief ministers to discuss about finance commission and opined that positive things will happen with the 14th finance commission.
Zeliang said if some were fighting for better portfolios and seats , for particular tribe or district no development can take place. The chief minister revealed, that had he been defeated in the vote he would have honestly stepped down but that the Chief Minister’s seat should not be made into a musical chair.
He slammed the dissidents for claming majority and said if that was so they should have proved on the floor of the house but added, they say different things and act differently.
The chief minister disclosed that his team of legislators would resume work in the office from Friday but did not spell any date for ministry expansion.
To a query if the dissident group continued to persist with leadership change, Zeliang said he believed what they have voted must be with trust and confidence. Chief Minister expressed disappointment to hear Kuzholuzo Nienu, for making fun of the attendance at the special session. He said such a casual and levity inside the house was unbecoming.
On the Congress voting for his government, Zeliang said they party MLAs met him after the assembly session and said they voted because they believed he bring in progress and development for the state.
