BASIC visits to NMA Cradle Ridge

BASIC has organized a visit to NMA Cradle Ridge, Kohima, along with Yes Bank officials and traders from Dimapur on January 31 with an aim to create social positive change and interacting platform between common people and social issue.
According to a report presented by the District AIDS Programme Control Unit (DAPCU), Dimapur, has recorded 5,070 new HIV+ cases in the last three years.
In 2010-11, 1667 people tested HIV+ while in 2011-12 and 2012-13, the number of HIV+ cases stood at 1,719 and 1,684 respectively. Nagaland is listed as one among the highly affected HIV prevalent States in the country along with Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
NMA Cradle Ridge provides shelter and support to children living with HIV and AIDS run by Naga Mother’s Association (NMA).
During the visit the members interacted with the children at the centre and the team donated food items and blankets. During the visit Branch Manager Yes Bank Puloto Swu lauded NMA’s initiative towards helping children in need
Speaking at the visit BASIC state coordinator Benny Dzuvichu said that BASIC is excited to receive good response from responsible people especially those who can influence people like the traders group and hopped to organize such visits.
