Minister– Counselor for Public Affairs, Embassy of the United States of American; Walter Douglas who is in Nagaland encouraged Naga students to apply for the United State India Foundation Education (USIFE), where various scholarships are made available to students interested to study in the US.
Interacting with the media persons here at Dream Café, Tuesday evening Douglas said it was a positive sign to see India and US enhancing their strong bond after the recent visit of the US president Barack Obama in Delhi.
He said thousands of students from India go to the US for higher studies every year. Douglas said his first visit to Nagaland and North East was more of a field trip to understand and encourage people to people contact.
Douglas was accompanied by chief media and public communication U.S. consulate general Public Affairs office, Erica Diya Basu and deputy director U.S. consulate general Public Affairs office, Greg Pardo.
