
National Leprosy Eradication Programme (NLEP), Wokha unit, has observed the National Anti-Leprosy Day along with rest of the country at CMO conference hall, Wokha, with SDO (C) Wokha, Mhomo Tungoe, as the chief guest on January 30.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that in spite of the prevailing stigma associated with and discrimination against leprosy, NLEP programme has made available free treatment for the disease within one’s reach. Tungoe further urged one and all to avail the opportunities provided under the programme for the successful elimination of the disease.
CMO Wokha, Dr. Enrithung Kikon, who also spoke on the occasion, stressed on acquisition of accurate knowledge about the disease for the successful elimination of the same.
During the programme, two leprosy patients were also presented with gifts.
Others who spoke on the occasion included Wokha ZLO, Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan, NVBDCP DPO Dr. Zuben Kikon, and Mhonthung Tsanglao.
E Mhabemo said the invocation, while Thungchibemo Ezung proposed the vote of thanks and Chumbemo pronounced benediction at the function chaired by PMW Susan.
Among others who attended the programme included MS MMDH, Wokha, DCMO, Programme Officers, MOs, GNMs, ANMs, ASHA Cordinators, and ASHAs.
