Dr. Inakhe Sumi, honorary president of Nagaland Institute of Health, Environment and Social Welfare (NIHESW), was laid to rest in his native Sukhalu village on February 1 amidst hundreds of mourners.
Dr Inakhe Sumi, eldest son of late Mr and Mrs late Hoshikhe Sema of Sukhalu village died on January 31 in Dimapur. The first medical graduate among Sumis, Dr. inakhe was born on January 23, 1948, and did his senior Cambridge at Mount Hermont School, Darjeeling. He did his MBBS from Bangalore Medical College in 1974 after which he joined government service in 1975. He retired from service as Director of Health and Family Welfare in January 2007. A man of integrity, late Inakhe was actively involved with NGO activities and social programmes. He was advisor to Sumi Hoho and also active as chieftain of his native Sukhalu village.
