Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has urged the State government to reconsider the proposed detachment of Class V from Primary section and to keep the matter in abeyance till such time the middle schools are provided with required infrastructure and teachers.
In a representation to the Parliamentary Secretary of School Education and SCERT, NSF president Tongpang Ozukum and the general secretary Esther Rhakho said changing the composition of Pre-Primary and Middle School would adversely affected the class V students and also the middle schools.
To buttress the claim, NSF said there is no additional class room to accommodate class V students in Middle Schools. Moreover, since redeployment of teachers is yet to exercised, it said many schools, particularly in interior areas, would lack the required number of teachers.
Stating that accommodating Pre-Primary till Class V is a national policy and pattern, NSF has questioned why the State of Nagaland is adopting a different composition or pattern unlike the rest of the States.
Having learned that proposed new pattern or system was used before but replaced by present system after much study, research and consultation, NSF wanted to ascertain as to whether deviating from the MHRD directive of having class I-V for Pre-Primary school would have no future repercussion.
NSF has made the representation having learnt about the difficulties and uncertainties faced by the students who are going to be admitted in Class V in the current academic session and the confusion of being created by the proposal to change composition of Pre-primary and Middle School Section by the department of School Education.
NSF strongly felt that unless the redeployment of teachers is implemented in the state and provide the required number of teachers with additional class rooms made available in all the middle schools, it would be difficult to implement the proposal new composition of Pre-Primary and Middle School at this juncture.
In the light of the above stated circumstances, NSF has urged the department concerned to revoke or kept in abeyance till such time the middle schools are provided with required infrastructure and teachers in the interest of the entire students’ community.
