Kohima police have arrested 24 persons including 18 male and 6 female during raid to check illicit sale and purchase of unverified pre-paid/ post paid/ pre activated SIM Cards on January 30.
The raid was conducted by the joint team of Kohima police comprising personnel from North Police Station, South Police Station and Women Cell in all the public outlets. The raid was initiated in the interest of national security and public interest as it was causing serious security threat to the citizens and posing immense difficulties for the law enforcement agency in tracing subscribers identity and address etc. whenever complaints were received at police stations from the aggrieved person(s).
SDPO and PRO Atu Zumvu said 17 persons were arrested from North Police Station jurisdiction, while 7 persons were arrested from South Police Station jurisdiction and also confiscated altogether of 827 SIM Cards from their possessions for violation/ non-observance of norms/ regulations and guidelines.

Satthadev Jha of Sundar Patti village (Bihar), Anil Kumar (23), son of Chandrika Sahani of Purbichamparan village (Bihar), Kewekhro (37), son of Lt. Mesepfulo of Chizami village, Ram Mahato (18), son of Lt. Rakbir of High School area, Kohima, Sari Khan (40), son of Jenet Mahato of High School area, Kohima, Sham (22), son of Munilal of High School area, Kohima, Joginder (49), son of Sakichan Mahato of High School area, Kohima, Akui Rio (30), son of Kutso of Tinpatti, Kohima, Neithono (25), daughter of Lhouliebie of Tinpatti, Kohima, Keniengunuo (22), daughter of Thepfusatuo of Tinpatti, Kohima, Abdul Latif (47), son of Lt. Total seizure of SIM Card are BSNL- 51, Airtel- 154, Aircel-194, Vodafone-207, Reliance-100 and Idea Cellular- 121.
