SASA annual meet gets under way

The 53rd Southern Angami Sport Association Meet 2015 began on January 27 at Jakhama local ground with Vilelie Khamo, Class – I contractor as the patron.
Vilelie, in his speech, has thanked the organizing committee for inviting him to grace the opening function of the 53rd SASA Meet as the patron. He acknowledged the founders/ pioneers for setting up the organization with a vision to uplift the youth through sports. Stating that Southern Angami is being blessed with good climatic conditions and environments, he called upon the participants to maintain proper diet and have physical excises in order to keep their health fit.
Maintaining that education and sports are advancing in today fast changing world, he called upon the participants to choose particular sports/games as their profession and bring laurels not only to the village but also to the State as well.
He also urged the Gazetted Officers of Southern area to take initiatives and encouraged the sports persons in order to excel in life. He further urged the participants to play with sporting spirit and discipline and advised them to obey the rules and regulation and respect their team coaches.
The program was chaired by Vilekho Bio, SASA general secretary, while Rev.
Zepovil invoked God blessings. The welcome address was tendered by Er. Zale Neikha SASA president, while special number was presented by Chietonü Hibo, and oath was administered by Metekhrielie Mejura, tournament director.
Earlier, Vilelie Khamo unfurled the SASA Flag and declared the tournament opened. The programme was attended by officials from SAPO, SAYO, NASA, WASA, CASA, AYO, ASU, ASU, SAGOK, Japfuphiki Chokri Krotho, SDO (C) Jakhama, members from GBs’ Association, village council chairmen.
The five day long meet would be marked by athletics, volley ball and football.
