Modi backs DAN under T.R. Zeliang

PM, FM ALSO ASSURE TO LOOK INTO STATE’S FINANCIAL NEEDS
 After around 25 days of uncertainty and amidst the paper war between rival NPF groups and in a big blow to the rival NPF at Sovima, prime minister Narendra Modi ruled out any change of leadership and disturbing the ruling DAN alliance led by chief minister T.R.Zeliang. When reports began trickling in that T.R. Zeliang had met prime minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah Wednesday, Nagaland Post contacted chief minister T.R.Zeliang who was in Delhi about the outcome.
 Zeliang said he had met prime minister Narendra Modi Wednesday, to apprise him about the political and financial scenario in Nagaland.
 He said PM Modi was against any change of leadership and disturbing the DAN government. Zeliang said Modi also assured his support and that of the BJP on his leadership as chief minister and leader of the DAN government.
Zeliang said BJP president Amit Shah’s stand was that the crisis should be resolved within NPF and urged both sides to reconcile differences. Zeliang said Shah assured him of full support as the BJP was not for any leadership change and further reiterated that rebels leave their camp by Thursday to reconcile, otherwise a floor test would have to be held to resolve the matter.
Meanwhile, a communiqué issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), stated that prime minister Narendra Modi had expressed full support to the chief minister and also assured him that of the firm backing and support by the central government and BJP to the leadership of the chief minister. On the request to ease the accumulated financial problems faced by the state, CMO stated that the prime minister assured the chief minister that he would look into the request for financial assistance. The chief minister also met with union finance minister Arun Jaitley in his office where the state’s current financial problems and details of the circumstances under which it had landed itself in the current crisis were highlighted.
At the meeting with the union finance minister, chief minister T.R.Zeliang requested for clearance of ODA loan of Rs.620 crore under JICAQ for “Nagaland Afforestation and Eco Development Project”.
In response, the union minister Arun Jaitley conveyed that he was aware of the financial challenges faced by Nagaland. The union minister also informed that the state’s request was under active consideration by the government of India and that some financial relief would be provided soon. Jaitely also expressed confidence that significant improvement in the state’s financial health could be brought about from the next financial year.
RESHUFLLE
Meanwhile, DAN spokesperson Yitachu disclosed, that re-allocation of portfolios and induction to he DAN-III ministry would take place following chief minister’s return from Delhi after meeting with union home minister Rajnath Singh and other national BJP leaders on Thursday.
Talking to Nagaland Post, Yitachu further disclosed, that fresh induction would be made to vacancies caused when four ministers were dropped including parliamentary secretaries and those who resigned. Yitachu said the induction and reallocation would be entirely the prerogative of the chief minister in deciding the composition of his council of ministers.
Yitachu also informed that the NPF party still kept its doors open for legislators from the Sovima camp to return back to the fold, provided they express their commitment to serve the party and government with honesty, sincerity and dedication. Further,Yitachu reiterated that the DAN government functioned smoothly and that under the leadership of chief minister T.R.Zeliang. He said DAN government would provide better stability along with alliance partners and would “remain intact, come what may.”
