National Girl Child Day was celebrated on the theme “The girl, our support today, our security tomorrow” on January 24 at AWTC, Dimapur, where about 450 girl child attended the programme.
Secretary to the Government of Nagaland, Department of Social Welfare, Delli Rose Sakhrie, who was the chief guest of the programme, highlighted on the need to promote girls position in the society to make their living better. She has emphasised to remove the differences of social discrimination and exploitation that girls face in the society like domestic violence, child marriage, gender discrimination and to work against diminishing the child sex ratio.
Earlier, Director of Mother’s Hope, Dimapur, Moamenla Jamir delivered short speech relating the importance of girl child in the society and the vote of thanks was delivered by District Programme Officer, Nizalu Rhakho.
The programme was chaired by the District Programme Officer, Dimapur, Chubala Jamir, and the invocation prayer was led by District Welfare Officer, Dimapur, Toshili Zhimomi.
