Kohima police personnel recovered three empty cases of 7.65 caliber used in .32 pistol and two bullet heads from the place where three stationary vehicles were damaged by some unknown miscreants.
The recovery was made following a telephonic information on January 23 at around 8:30 AM wherein some unknown miscreants had fired upon three stationary vehicles located at Pezieliecie and Kezieke Colony Kohima.
On reaching the spot, police personnel found the three vehicles with one gunshot each on their windshields. All the three vehicles including a Bolero, Maruti Alto car and City bus were found with “ACAUT” stickers in their windshields. It was observed that the unknown miscreants had deliberately fired upon the “ACAUT” stickers on close range resulting to damage of the windshields by the gunshots.
As per the statements given by the residents of the said locality, the incident occurred at around 12 midnight while they were sleeping. The statement said they heard three gunshots being fired and other details could not be ascertained till the time of conducting preliminary investigation by the police.
A regular case has been registered in this connection for conducting further investigation to ascertain the actual cause of the incident and to establish the identity of the unknown miscreants.
Meanwhile, Against Corruption and Unabated Taxation (ACAUT) has strongly condemned the senseless damaging of vehicles in Kohima that reportedly had sticker “I am ACAUT” on it.
Even as details regarding the extent of damage were unclear, ACAUT has expressed solidarity with the owners of the vehicles. ACAUT reminded the people that these acts were a direct affront to the values of democracy and freedom of expression of everyone.
While cautioning the people that there are forces working hard to subvert the values of freedom, ACAUT said such act should be denounced by one and all.
In a press release, ACAUT media cell said it stands against all forms of terrorism and reaffirmed its stand for freedom of expression and democracy.
