In view of the ensuing Republic Day celebration on January 26, the Mon district administration has organised a mass social work on January 23 at Mon town from 8 a.m. onward.
Government departmental trucks from DEF Mon, Power Department, PWD (R & B), MTC, PWD (Mechanical), 100 RCC Mon and PHED Mon were provided for collection and disposal of garbage.
Deputy Commissioner, Mon, Angau I Thou, had earlier directed the denizens to take part in the cleanliness drive in their respective surrounding and wards along with the students community, NGOs and general public.
Exhibition by Agri & Allied Departments and Departmental stalls by NRHM, SSA, UNDP (Soil), DPRO and Industries would be some of the highlights of the Republic Day celebration.
In a separate programme, a mass social work was held at Phek district headquarter on January 22 in and around Phek town, department office compound, town areas and colonies which was organised by Administration department.
DC Phek, Murohu Chotso, has appreciated the efforts made by the denizens of Phek town and also all the government employees for their contribution and for extending cooperation towards “Clean and green Phek town”.
Meanwhile, ADC Bhandari, Orenthung Patton has directed all government officials and citizens of Bhandari town for mass social work on January 24 in their respective offices and colonies.
In this regard, all the sub divisional HOD and colonies GBs are asked to supervise the work efficiently.
Highlights of Republic Day celebration 2015
The 66th Republic Day celebration on January 26 would be held at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza Kohima. The State Governor PB Acharya would take the Republic Day salute and address the people.
The celebration would witness march past by 12 contingents, 3 band parties to accompany the march past.
There would be entertainment programme followed by exhibition cum sale by the Agri and Allied sectors and Para Military Forces.
The Republic Day celebration would conclude with the evening programme and the beating of retreat by the Brass Pipe Bands.

Gorkha Public Panchayat would visit District TB & Chest Disease Hospital, Nagaland Contractor & Supplier Union would visit Eden Garden Orphanage, Khuzama, 4th NAP, Thizama would visit Kripa Centre, Royal Club would visit Aids Hospice/ Mt. Gilead Home, Kohima Ao Baptist Church would visit Different Abled Children of Cherry Blossom, Lerie, Kohima Municipal Council would visit Children with special needs of Jo Foundation, Agri Colony, Catholic Association of Nagaland would visit Bright Morning Star Orphanage, Paramedical, Sumi Baptist Church, Kohima, would visit Spastic Society, and Kohima Village Youth Organisation for distribution of Sweets at the Parade ground.
NST bus services on R-Day
State Transport Department has arranged 6 NST buses to enable the public to attend the 66th Republic Day celebration at Nagaland Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza on January 26. The buses would depart from NST station, Kohima, for Secretariat Plaza at 8 a.m. for the morning programme. The same buses would depart from NST station at 1:30 p.m. for the evening programme. This was issued in a press release by Secretary of Home, Bendangkokba.
