Seized liquor destroyed in Wokha

In one of the biggest haul of illegal liquor in recent times in Wokha district, the Special Operation Team (SOT) of Wokha police seized illegal liquor totaling 246 cases carried in two vehicles at Wokha-Bokajan road Tuesday night.
Reportedly, the seized illegal liquor including 206 cases of MC Rum (Plastic) and 40 cases of Kingfisher (Canned) Beer were to be carried to Zunheboto when they were apprehended by Wokha Police acting on a tip-off. The two vehicles used for carrying the illegal liquor included a Bolero bearing Registration No. NL-06-3066, and Scorpio bearing Registration No. WB-02U-4486.
The seized illegal liquor were destroyed at the outskirts of Wokha town under the supervision of Wokha district administration and police Wednesday evening.
Wokha police informed that two persons namely Zakato K Shohe (22), son of Khehoi Shohe from Lukhuyi village, and Inaka Yeptho (21), son of Hewoto from Phuye village, both presently residing at 5th Mile, Dimapur, have been detained and FIRs lodged against them under appropriate sections of NLTP Act.
It may be mentioned that just last week on January 15, the same team of Wokha police had seized and destroyed illegal liquor totaling 61 ½ cases carried in two vehicles from between Yikhum village and Wokha town.
