Kohima women cell recovers abandoned infant

On receiving information that one newly born infant baby girl was found abandoned at Naga Bazar colony Kohima January 13, 2015 at around 7 a.m., the women cell Kohima led by S.I. Levinuo Nyuwi I/C women cell rushed to the spot and took custody of the infant baby.
According to Kohima police PRO, the baby was shifted to Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) for administering first aid. After giving first aid from NHAK, the baby was accordingly handed over to Child Welfare Committee Kohima for safe custody, police said.
Meanwhile, women cell personnel conducted thorough investigation to ascertain the actual mother of the infant baby. In the process, women cell could trace and locate the mother January 20 at around 3:30 p.m. from Naga Bazar colony Kohima.
A regular case vide North P.S Kohima case No. 0003/2015 U/S 315 IPC has been registered against her, which is a non-bailable offence and punishable for a term which may extend to ten years and shall also be liable to fine. She is remanded into police custody for conducting further investigation.
