TSU responds to Longtsunger bodies

Drawing attention to report “Longtsunger bodies refute TTC allegations” published January 20 by Longtsunger village citizens and Longtsunger village council,  the apex student body of Tikhir tribe, Tikhir Students’Union (TSU), has asked LVC chairman Shojiba to reply whether or not 18th session of TSU general conference was held at Longtsunger village (Tikhir village) in 1999.
LVC chairman had stated that “Longtsunger village is under Yimchunger Tribal Council and therefore the question of attending TSU 34th general conference at Kiusam town from January 10 to 12 did not arise as Yimchungers are not Tikhirs”.
In a press release, TSU president S.Longkhamse and  TSU executive council chairman Antony Tsangmong asked could Shojiba deny that Longtsungers used to attend TSU sessions in the past. They said if he denied holding of TSU general conference at Longtsunger village in 1999 and attendance of Longtsungers in TSU sessions in the previous years he was not a citizen of that village. TSU said and if needed it was ready to prove it.
With regard to the alleged assault of GB Kiuto, Tikhir students’ union pointed out that Mark Muraikiu, joint Secretary, TTC did not go to Longtsunger village for his personal duty but he was detailed jointly by TTC and TSU to meet the Longtsunger village council after having learnt that they were neither going to send students nor going to attend TSU conference.
As he is duty bound, TSU said Mark Muraikiu called a meeting at Longtsunger village and in the course of the meeting, there was a heated exchange of words between him and Longtsunger GBs. TSU said during which K. Tiala, daughter of Kiuto, GB attempted to harm Mark with dao (machete) that led to the scuffle and the injury of Kiuto, GB.  With regard to the incident, TSU demanded that law enforcing authority take action against those GBs involved and K. Tiala, failing which it would not remain silent on this matter.
