Dr. Shürho warns rival chief whip

President NPF Kohima Dr. Shürhozelie said in view of the opinions among NPF members, that the present crisis was an internal matter, the chief minister T.R. Zeliang, as the leader of the NPF legislature party convened a meeting on January 20 at 11 a.m. in Kohima but that the “rebels did not come” to the meeting which reiterated support for T.R. Zeliang’s leadership.
Instead, he said “ a parallel meeting” of NPF legislators was convened by Kuzholuzo (Azo) Neinu as “chief whip of NPF legislature party” at Niathu Resort on the same day and hour but which “ was done without any authority”.
Drawing attention on the notice published in a section of the local press, Dr.Shürhozelie said that Kuzholuzo, who was earlier the chief whip of the NPF legislature, was replaced by Kiyanilie Peseyie “for reasons known to everyone”.
Dr. Shürhozelie said he had appointed Kiyanilie Peseyie as chief whip of the NPF parliamentary party in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly on November 14, 2014 “as per provision of the 10th Schedule of the constitution of India and also as per Art.V,clause 10 of NPF constitution”.
Further, Dr. Shürhozelie said the assembly notification dated November 15, 2014 notified the appointment and circulated to the government of India and all state assemblies of the country.
Therefore, Dr. Shürhozelie said Kiyanilie Peseyie “is the NPF chief whip” in the assembly “and there is no other”.
Dr.Shürhozelie warned that anyone claiming to be chief whip without authority, “shall entail consequences under the 10th Schedule of the constitution of India.”
In the light of the above, Dr.Shürhozelie stated that since “ the rebels failed to attend the meeting for reconciliation, the only option left now is to go to the floor of the assembly for strength test”.
Challenging the rivals he asked, if their claim of being in majority was true, then why were they afraid to go to the house?Similarly, Dr.Shürhozelie said if claim of having majority was true then the group should move for ‘No Confidence Motion’ against the T.R.Zeliang ministry.
However, he said they were not in a position to do so except “continue to create confusions.
In this regard, he said the chief minister has moved for a ‘confidence motion to challenge “ the rebels to come to the house for strength test and decide the matter once and for all.”
