Various organzitions have expressed their resenment over the present political drama that has crippled the state, urging Nagaland Governor to intervene on the matter.
Political impasse most unbecoming, mockery of democracy, says NCD: Naga Council Dimapur (NCD) has termed the present political impasse in the state “as most unbecoming and a mockery of democracy”.
Pointing out that the “undesirable episode” has totally paralyzed the functioning of the state, a joint statement issued by NCD president T. Bangerloba Ao and general secretary Ntsemo Ngullie said that the citizens are “now wondering whether the elected legislators do in anyway care about the plight of the common man”.
With the crisis affecting governance and public at large, NCD said the issue was “no longer an intra-party squabble”.
Stating that it was constrained to issue the statement in interest of the public, NCD fervently appealed Nagaland Governor P.B. Acharya to exercise his wisdom and intervene in the interest of the harried citizens and urged him to take necessary steps to restore the unfettered functioning of the government at the earliest.
Impasse pathetically disturbing governance, says NTC: Taking note of the present political impasse within the elected members and political parties, Nagaland Tribes Council (NTC) has said that the issue was “pathetically disturbing, stalling the whole democratic system of governance”.
In a press release, NTC media cell reminded that the NPF was voted to power with the people’s mandate in the last election, for the sole purpose to take care of the welfare of the people. However, it said that the same party has now stalled the governance due to its own internal discord.
Observing that the elected members have been “playing games with the people’s mandate at the expense of public time, energy and state exchequer for greed of power and money”, NTC termed it “contemptuous”.
Reminding the elected representatives to re-visit their commitment while appealing for vote, NTC urged them to “stop playing hide and seek game from Hotels and Resorts”.
It also reminded the elected members not forget their primary responsibilities, and urged them “to come out of their hide-out and seriously engage in their respective business to deliver goods to the people through democratic process”.
With the state in its worse financial crisis, NTC said that the elected members should rather take note of their responsibilities and assure the people of to rescue the State from the impending death trap of liabilities.
In the event that, the elected representatives fail to uphold the democratic principles to run the affairs of the State, NTC said “they are at liberty to go back to the people for any alternative”.
ENPO, ENSF resolve to maintain neutrality: Against the backdrop of the ongoing political crisis in the state, the Eastern Nagaland Peoples’ Organisation (ENPO) and Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) Monday said they have jointly resolved to maintain “strict neutrality”.
In a joint press release, ENPO president Chingmak Chang and joint secretary Manlang Phom and ENSF president Shahsha Menhahu appealed to all responsible political leaders of the state to resolve the differences through democratic means in the greater interest of the Naga public in general.
ENPO and ENSF stated that they have also resolved to appeal the governor to strictly uphold the spirit of democracy so as to deliver all fairness and justice to the people for a stable government in Nagaland at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the two organisations have cautioned individual/group indulging and associating in the ongoing political impasses against using platforms/organisations of Eastern Nagas in any manner.
If violated, ENPO and ENSF said it shall be treated as an infringement to the unity of ENPO and shall be answerable to the organisation.
NSF appeals elected members to use wisdom: Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) Monday strongly appeal upon all the elected members to use their best wisdom to resolve the issue and serve the people for which they were elected.
Maintaining it has taken serious note of the current political situation in the state, NSF urged all the legislatures involved “to show maturity” and solve the misunderstanding between them and deliver their “good service” as people’s representatives in the best interest of the state.
In a press release, NSF president Tongpang Ozukum and general secretary Esther Rhakho stated that since the current situation was a “political upheaval”, Naga civil society organisations particularly the student organizations should maintain neutrality.
