Nagaland NewsENSF declares no tax on teachers

ENSF declares no tax on teachers

On account of the poor educational stagnancy and economic condition of the region, the Easter Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has unanimously declared “No tax zone on teaching community” within its jurisdiction, while it also appealed to all the Naga Political Groups (NPGs) not to misunderstand the concept of freeing the teaching community from paying tax saying it is never a deviation from the political demand and vision.
The declaration was made during the Eastern Frontal Organisations’ meeting held at Longleng on January 12 comprising ENSF, ENPO & ENWO along with 6 tribal apex bodies namely KU, USLB, YTC, CKS, PPC & KTC. The resolution was also made in pursuance to the resolution and declaration made during the joint presidential meeting of Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) and Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on May 1, 2013, at Kohima.
ENSF has appreciated all the Naga political groups for extending full cooperation to the cause of the Nagas for the past two years (2013-14) with a vision to build a strong Nation. The Federation opined that “No nation can be build without imparting good education today.” In this regard, the Federation has appealed to all the Naga political groups not to misunderstand the concept of freeing the teaching community from paying tax saying it is never a deviation from the political demand and vision. ENSF said it was neither a force to restrain nor abstain from collecting tax but rather heralding a call to all the Naga political groups to come forward in building a strong Naga nation by imparting good education today.
It said such initiation not only aims in freeing the burden of taxation upon the teaching community but also to be accounted that all the teaching community should foster their assigned duty sincerely and regularly. The declaration also stated that it wouldl terminate any teacher (including VEC) if the assigned duty is not implemented efficiently.
It said the initiation does not lie with the Federation alone but a social obligation for all Naga citizens.
In a joint statement, ENSF president Shahsha L Menhahu and the general secretary Honang M Jessuhu said the motive behind such initiation was to rebuild our educational future that stagnant us today. While stating that the theme “rectification” on the educational system is an offshoot that forces them to fight against the cruelty of the word “tax,” ENSF however said one should not misunderstand or consider such move as an offence step against the political goal.
It may also be noted that prior to 2012, both the Students’ Federation (ENSF/NSF) had visited and apprised all the Naga Political groups in this regard. The 2nd round of meeting with all the NPGs was initiated in the year 2013.
The Federation, as resolved and declared during joint NSF-ENSF President meet, has urged all the NPGs and individual not to create unwanted situation or harass/ threaten any individual/ teachers/ leaders on the matter.
The citizens of Eastern Nagaland earnestly appealed to all the NPGs and individual to extent full cooperation and support in this regard adding Naga as a nation would salute them for the sacrifices made today.
