Nagaland MLA and former minister PWD (R&B), Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu, said everybody has its legal, constitutional and democratic rights to elect its own leader (referring to Kaito’s group) if they have majority. He said this while addressing the gathering as the chief guest during Chakhesang Thuni festival celebration on the theme “Cavi he kini” (Peace is wealth) held at Razeba hosted by Razeba Public Organization on Saturday, some 83 km away from the state capital under Phek district.
Speaking on the much talk of the present government situation, Azo clarified to the people that Kaito’s group was not to topple the government but demand for change of leadership within the NPF party as they have absolute majority to provide better, stronger and cleaner government. Azo said, “We know democratic right, therefore stand for majority”. He urged the public and the Nagas to judge whether majority or minority should take over the government.
Referring the present government crisis, Azo admitted that as a leader and responsible person he too take the blame for the situation, which he said must be the God’s punishing to the Nagas for the wrong doing that the party divided into two. However, he said God knows the best and His wisdom would prevail to give the best solution.
Condemning the alleged black money of TR Zeliang, chief minister, Azo said if that case was true it would be a “very sorry state” when the state is facing financial crunch that one could accumulate so much money. Azo assured the gathering that within few days the political leadership would be crystal clear and urged the people to have little patient.
Later, the agri-product exhibition cum sale was inaugurated by speaker NLA Chotisii Sazo. In his address, Sazo called upon the gathering to live up to the good ethical characteristics of the forefathers and at the same time urged upon them to follow the principle of hardwork and trustworthiness in ensuring a healthy society. He also stressed on the need to upkeep the good traditional values to maintain the identity of the Nagas.
Earlier, MLA Deo Nukhu highlighted the significance of Thuni. He said festival as such bring the community closer and provide an opportune platform to reason together and build better understanding, unity and peace, thereby establishing a prosperous society.
CPO president Sovenyi, in his greetings, said festival is not only a time for feasting and merry making but it strengthen the bond of friendship and oneness and also generate a vital channel to march together for good. He also called upon the gathering to uphold the spirit of hardworking, honesty and respect to elders that Chakhesangs are known for.
Vevo Sapu, Director of Art and Culture, maintained that if one knows his culture, then one identity is intact. He also urged upon the people to continue to preserve the good culture and traditional practices of the Nagas.
The programme was chaired by Murohu Chotso, DC Phek, and compeered by Rekha Rose Dukru and Vibi Mero, while the invocation prayer was said Rev. Vevozo Khamo, executive secretary CCCRC, special song by Athe Rhi, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Boni Zholia, convenor organizing committee.
Various cultural items were presented by Zhavame, Poumai cultural troupe (Tungam village), Zelome, Tsupfiime and Dziilhami. Thousands people attended the festival including CPO frontal organizations, public leaders, national workers, church leaders and others. The special guests were presidents of Pochury Hoho, Angami Public Organizations, Sumi Hoho and Poumai Naga Union.
In the gala nite session, engineer-in-chief PWD, Er. Dikhrolo Mero was the chief guest.
