PSC conference underway in Orangkong

Considered as the largest ever gatherings in recent years, the 62nd conference of the Phom Laivangh Pangthai (Phom Students’ Conference) began on Janaury 13 at Orangkong village, one and half kilometers away from district headquarter Longleng, on theme ‘Denngoihenshing Ngangpu’ (Pursuing wholeness).
The introductory programmee coincided with several items being performed by the host students as well as from neighboring villagers, students of federating units.
In the Introductory service, Leisha Phom, president Phom Peoples’ Council (PPC), and Nyenghong Phom, District Agriculture Officer, Longleng, have exhorted the huge gathering of students by focusing on the field of education and the challenges in the fast changing world.
The speakers have deplored the prevailing education systems in the district which is marked by large scale substitute teachers in every school. They opined that government schools should be the best with hundred percent clean results in the exam since every teacher are graduate and degree holders in different fields. The lamented that government appointed teachers were never seen in the schools. They have urged the students to have vision for bright future and to pursue quality education in order to bring about changes in the society.
Earlier, Bible reading and prayer was pronounced by the pastor of Yaoyimchen Baptist Church, while greetings was delivered by VCC Orangkong Village, B Chauchei Phom. Special song was presented by Yongphang Students’ Union. A special tribute song for the 62nd students’ conference title “Carry On” was presented by Rebirth Band Longleng followed by extempore speech competition among the federating units of the district.
