TTC condemns murder attempt

Tikhir Tribal council (TTC) has condemned the murder attempt on the life of its joint secretary Mark Murili allegedly by Kiuto, GB of Longtsonger village, and his daughter Tiala on January 9 at Longtsonger village and also condemned the action of Kiuto, GB, and some vested council members of Longtsonger village in prohibiting the students of Longtsonger village from attending TSU 34th general conference which was hosted at Kuisam town from January 10 to 12.
Having received report from TSU officials that Kuito and some council members had prohibited them from attending the general conference, TTC had deputed Mark Murekiu to handle the issue. However, TTC stated that while Mark Murekie was waiting for the council to gather, Kiuto and his adult daughter Tiala came with a dao in which Kiuto was injured in the ensuing tussle.
In a press release, TTC vice president S Pongsuthong and the general secretary Philip Tothong have asked the vested interested Longtsonger villagers to immediately stop playing dirty tribalism policies. It has also asked to clarify why the students were prohibited to attend TSU 34th general conference as well as the action taken report on the murder attempt.
It cautioned that failure to give satisfactory reason would lead to further necessary action on Longtsonger village by the Tikhirs for which TTC would not be held responsible. TTC also appealed the law enforcing authorities to arrest Kiuto and his daughter and take action for murder attempt.
