District Task Force (DTF), under the department of Health & Family Welfare, Dimapur, held meeting on IPPI (Polio Sunday- 1st Round) and Routine Immunization on January 14 in the Deputy Commissioner’s conference Hall.
During the meeting, DPO (UIP-RCH) Dr. Lanuakum presented the scenario of immunization in the district.
He urged the stake holders to actively involve in immunization programme which aims to achieve 100% full immunization and reduce IMR and prevent childhood illness which are preventable through timely and full immunization.
World Health Organization (WHO) consultant, Dr. Shiela, presented global update on IPPI and reminded the gathering that India was declared Polio Free by WHO on March 2014. She also urged the members to continue their support to maintain the status.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC), Elizabeth Ngully, has expressed her hope to increase immunization percentage in district and the department in achieving its goal with the involvement of all the stakeholders and participation of the community.
DPO has informed that first round IPPI (Polio Sunday) would be January 18 and house-to-house visit on January 19 to immunized those children who have missed Polio Sunday.
