The 18th general session of Singti Area Sangtam Students’ Union (SASSU) successfully concluded on January 11 on the theme “Retrospect the past and reconstruct the future” which was held from January 9 to 11 at Sitimi town. Altogether six units under SASSU including GBs, VCCs, VECs and chairmen from SASSU attended the general session.
Speaking at the valedictory programme, secretary of the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation, K Achumba Sangtam, has emphasised on the importance of cultural identity, who also said that culture is the only identity in human civilization which was identified by “people.” He asked the gathering to preserve traditional culture and further asked parents of Singti area to teach their children on the importance of culture.
Justin Khatomong, executive secretary of the United Sangtam Students’ Conference (USSC), exhorted the students to have competitive spirit while at the same encouraged them to pursue for quality education. He further appealed the students to have aim in life.
Other speakers at the programme were Medical Officer PHC Sitimi, Dr. Holiba; VAS Kiphire Dr. Tsilise; Deputy Speaker ENSF Sepili; and former president SASSU Aketo Sangtam.
Volley ball, badminton, quiz and cultural folk songs competitions were held on the sideline of the session. During the session, new officials were also inducted for the next tenure.
