LRSU resolves to pursue quality education

A two-day 41st general conference of Langpongkong Range Students’ Union (LRSU) was held at Longkong village on January 8-9 on the theme “Progress through unity” where representatives from all the villages under the range attended the conference. Langpangkong is one of the six ranges under Mokokchung district.
During the conference, members present have decided to form a think-tank who would deliberate and analyse for educational and economic solutions in Langpangkong range. The conference also resolved to form Parent’s Association in every government schools under the range in order to impart quality education so as to attract children to avail free education in government schools.
The conference reaffirmed its earlier resolutions to support the revival process of Tuli Paper Mill and also to give full cooperation to the ongoing foothill road construction.
The main speakers of the conference were Chuba Ozüküm, Administrative Officer of Law and Justice; and K Temjen Jamir, Editor, Tir Yimyim.
Bendang Longkumer, OSD, Industries & Commerce; Jongshilemba, former minister; Prof. Sangyu Yaden, president of Ao Senden; and Mayang Lima, Registrar of Guwahati High Court and Secretary, Legal Services Authority, have also exhorted the gathering.
Other highlights of the programme included special numbers by the conference choir and other local artists. Watsu unit of Longkong and Merangkong also presented special numbers in traditional tunes. Unger Village Council, Kangtsung Village Council and Yaongyimti Old Village Council have also presented folk songs.
During the conference a new team of office bearers has been elected for a term of three years with L Talimoa Longkumer (Akhoya) as president, Moyalepden ( Longkong) as vice president, Lipokmar (Salulamang) as general secreatry, Limawati (Jakpa) as assistant general secretary, Rongsenlemba (Chuchuyimlang) as finance secretary,  and Süpongmatong (Chuchuyimlang) as treasurer.
