Mixed reactions on NPF imbroglio

Various unit of the Naga People’s Front have differently reacted to the present political turmoil within the party. While some have supported the dissident group the others have extended support to the decision to suspend certain legislators for their alleged anti-party activities.
NPF Kiphire: NPF Kiphire divisional unit held an emergency meeting on January 10 and reaffirmed to extend its solidarity and support to the president Dr. Shurhoelie Liezietsu and general secretary KG Kenye and further resolved to abide by the party high command NPF.
NPF Tsg Sadar-II: The 54 assembly constituency NPF unit Tuensang held an emergency meeting with all frontal office bearers of the area on January 9 at the party office and resolved to extend support to the decision of the party president Dr Shürhozelie on suspending seven legislatures on January 5 for not upholding and abiding by the party decision.
The party was of the view that democratic rules should be upheld and reminded that the motion for change of leadership should be taken in unanimous decision on the floor of the house and demanded an immediate end to the differences within NPF. Unit also expressed unhappiness towards the recent political upheaval in which the dissident group has violated the manifesto of Naga People’s Front ‘Peace for development and development for peace.’ In a press release, NPF unit president Y Wongto Chang and general secretary M Chingmak Chang said that they would continue to work under the leadership of party president Dr Shürhozelie and TR Zeliang.
Aghunato NPF: The 34 A/C Aghunato NPF Division, has expressed dismayed over the suspension of the seven members of Legislative Assembly by the NPF president Dr. Shurozelie Lezietsu instead of pacifying the differences between the two camps pro-Kaito led NPF-DAN legislatures and the pro TR Zeliang led NPF-DAN legislatures.
The unit president Hoito Achumi and the press secretary Heka Yepthomi said Dr. Shurozelie Lezietsu, has unleashed his dictatorial mindset by having the members suspended at the stroke of his pen overriding the “Rule of Law” which is unconstitutional and unprecedented in the political history of Nagaland.
In this context, the unit has urged the president to reconsider the suspension order, which it said was undemocratic and murder of people’s mandate. The Aghunato NPF division, without any ambiguity and in tune with democratic principles, has decided to stand with the majority.
Stating that TR Zeliang led DAN government having reduced to minority should pave way for an honorable transition of power for a new chapter of the NPF led DAN government under the leadership of Kaito Aye.
NPF Dimapur-III: NPF 3-Dimapur-III A/C has unanimously decided to endorse and support the decision of NPF Dimapur division. The decision to this effect was taken in its emergency meeting of the executive members at Hotel Saramati on January 10 to discuss the current political issue.
