Amidst speculations that Nagaland chief minister T.R. Zeliang and NPF president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu have struck a deal with the Congress to form a government, Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Tokheho Frinday denied any such agreement, but confirmed that both Zeliang and Kaito’s camp have approached Congress seeking for support.
Talking to Nagaland Post, Tokheho said the Congress has so far not made any commitment with any of the groups.
He revealed that following the directive of party high command to furnish details of the ongoing state political scenario the state Congress party has already sent the report. Congress Legislature Party leader said until the high command give directives, the state party would not take any decision. “The Congress will not decide on anything till we get green signal from Delhi,” added the CLP leader.
On the other hand, when contacted, chief minister T.R. Zeliang denied any such agreement with the Congress and added that there was no such need as he has already met the Governor and have summoned a special session of NLA to move a motion of confidence.
Dissident group spokesperson Imkong L Imchen denied when asked about approaching the Congress. He said “we have not sought any support from Congress”.
Imchen, however, claimed that T R Zeliang and Dr. Shürhozelie have approached the Congress for a “coalition government”.
Meanwhile, sources said that the Congress legislators Friday held a closed door meeting here at Dimapur.
