NPF Central press bureau has stated, that the party’s central office bearers, divisional president, frontal chiefs and cell chairmen at a meeting on Friday in the Central Office headquarters endorsed decisions taken by party president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu in suspending seven NPF legislators and also unanimously endorsed the leadership of party president Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu and chief minister T.R. Zeliang and authorized them to “take whatever disciplinary action or otherwise as deemed fit, so as to ensure the party government lasts if full term”.
The bureau said the meeting Friday was attended by 43 out of 48 members who were inducted to the Central Office at the party’s general convention on November 26, 2014.
The house also adopted a four-point resolutions, which states that:
1. The house unanimously endorses the actions taken by the party president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu in issuing suspension orders to the seven NPF Legislators.
2. House appealed to the misguided party legislators and functionaries who have deviated from the party’s stand in providing a stable government to the people of Nagaland, to come back to the mainstream of the NPF and also to desist from indulging in dissident activities and at the same time also directs the dissident Legislators to come back to the party fold at the earliest.
3. The House unanimously endorses the leadership of party president Dr. Shurhozelie Liezietsu and chief minister T.R. Zeliang and authorizes the party president and CM to take whatever disciplinary action or otherwise as deemed fit so as to ensure the Party Government lasts its full term.
4. The House also appealed to DAN partners to remain neutral during this period of intra-NPF political issue since this matter will be resolved in a short period of time but that the DAN Alliance will continue in the years to come.
Dr. Shürhozelie on suspension order
Earlier, in his presidential address to the NPF leaders, Dr. Shürhozelie narrated the chain of events leading to the exigent moment when he was compelled to issue suspension orders to the seven Legislators.
“I have not mentioned in the orders the suspension period because I have kept room for consideration of revoking the orders once the legislators repent and mend their ways,” he said.
“Our doors are open and we will welcome back all repentant legislators.” Dr Shurhozelie also briefed the NPF leaders about the series of meetings the top party leaders have been holding with the Governor in the last few days and assured the gathering that the T.R. Zeliang-led DAN government would last its full term.
NPF secretary general cited the relevant clauses of the party Constitution which gives the president authority to take extreme decisions in times of exigencies.
He also pointed out that the term of the last tenure ended last year and that the new team was inducted only on November 26 last and that owing to festive holidays, the party was yet to constitute various committees including DAC.
Kenye also pointed out that only the leader of the NPF Legislature party, T.R Zeliang is authorized to convene a party’s Legislature meet and that the one called by anyone else is “unconditional and ultra vires.”
Further, the meeting termed the appointment of Kuzholuzo Nienu as “chief whip” including all other appointments by G. Kaito Aye as “unconstitutional and considered null and void”.
