Breaking its silence on the “ongoing political crisis” in the state, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) said Thursday it was “a grim reminder” that people of Nagaland were destined to reap what they have sown during the last three successive assembly elections. In a press release, NPCC political affairs committee (PAC) member secretary Joshua Sumi said current political crisis rocking the state was not accidental “but out of willful act made by the citizens of Nagaland.”
Even after having observed the “pathetic performance” of the NPF government in all respects, NPCC said the “so called mandate” was given to the NPF for the third successive time. Out of 60 legislators in the state assembly, NPCC said NPF-led DAN with 52 members was expected to give stability within the given tenure. However, it added that a jumbo sized ministry was installed despite deep financial crisis faced by the state.
Unfortunately, NPCC said after two years of “sailing the rotten boat”, NPF-led government could not proceed further as it was “bogged down” by its own internal bickering and discord.
NPCC said ongoing crisis was nothing less than the lack of leadership, lack of discipline, lack of sense of duty, adding that selfishness has crippled every sphere of governance.
Even if the present crisis calms down, Congress said it would be the “same old wine in a new bottle”. It added that the people of Nagaland would continue to suffer under the regime of NPF. Further, NPCC said it was “unwise and senseless” for the NPF and partners to reiterate the promise of bringing early political solution despite its utter failure to bring nothing except adding 12 years of dormancy to 18 years of Naga political peace process.
“Is it not ridiculous that when the NPF is having so much problems of its own to be resolved, will they ever give importance to the problems of the people?” queried NPCC.
Meanwhile, NPCC reminded Nagaland BJP as to what role it was playing as partner of NPF in the present crisis. NPCC said just the other day Nagaland BJP had officially announced its support to the dissident leader G Kaito Aye while today it has appealed to both the NPF camps to arrive at an amicable solution.
