Special national integration camp at PCC

A special national integration camp, organized by National Cadet Corps (NCC) Group HQ Kohima, north eastern region directorate, got underway January 3 at Patkai Christian College, Dimapur, Nagaland.
500 cadets from 16 directorates from all parts of the country and around 100 cadets from North East, 10 officers and 60 staff are expected to attend the camp, which would to conclude January 14.
Brig M Sreekumar Group Commander, Group HQ Kohima, Nagaland would be the Camp Commandant.
Overall there are six Special National Integration Camps conducted in far edges throughout the country to reach out to people in remotest part of our nation, i.e. at Port Blair (Andaman Islands), Lakshadweep Islands, Jaisalmer (Rajasthan), Leh/ Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir), New Delhi and in the North East, at Nagaland.  Kohima has justifiably been selected as a location to represent North East where cadets participate.  This year Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima, Dimapur will be hosting this year’s SNIC.
According to a defence release, the primary aim of the camp was to foster a spirit of unity amongst the cadets, cutting across regional, religious, linguistic and cultural barriers and provide them an opportunity to learn from each other’s culture and traditions. To achieve this goal, a large number of activities are planned and executed every year.
During this camp, the cadets participate in various programs showcasing Knowledge of Indian customs and traditional history of Seven Sisters, Cultural heritage and economic development of India in order to promote closer understanding and integration among NCC cadets of different states.
Besides, cadets organize themselves to conduct social activities, cleanliness drive and community hygiene activities. Training program such as drill, sports, firing and adventure activities like trekking as well as extracurricular activities like cultural programs, declamation , NIAP, debate are also planned in the said camp to develop confidence and public speaking.
