Kiphire District Sumi Students’ Union (KDSSU) and Yimchungru Akheru Arihako (YAA) at a coordination meeting at Pungro village January 5, 2015 unanimously adopted two-point resolution.
At the meeting, the two student bodies deliberated on several points and unanimously resolved to strengthen the cordial relationship between the two tribes in the district and uphold the mutual understanding in different areas of concerns.
A joint press release issued by Kiphire District Sumi Students’ Union president Yashika Achumi and YAA president Akiuba TS stated that the meeting also resolved to preserve and maintain the age old ethnic identity, historical facts and democratically resist interference, “which may thwart the prevalence of congenial atmosphere in the district.”
