Training on canopy management and temperate fruit crops was organized by department of horticulture at horticulture research farm, Pfütsero recently.
According to a press release, horticulture research & training station Mashobra, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) associate director Dr. B.S. Thakur was the resource person at the training.
During the training session, different aspects of canopy management and pruning of temperate fruit crops like apple, kiwi, plum and stone fruits were discussed.
Canopy management is the manipulation of tree canopy to optimize its production potential with excellent quality fruits.
In many fruit crops, increase in production with enhanced fruit quality is obtained by managing canopies of short statured trees.
The training programme was attended horticulture officers Moalemba and Tiakaba and farmers from Phek and Kiphire districts.
