Team Nagaland has clinched six medals, including one silver and five bronze, in both Classic and Free Style Belt Wrestling at the ongoing Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship held in Delhi.
According to the NWA media cell, on Day 2 of the championship, which featured Senior Free Style wrestling for both men and women, the NWA team secured the following medals for Team India under Senior Free Style Belt Wrestling:
• Kuvenu Puro – Silver medal in the 80 kg category (Men)
• Venuzo Dawhuo – Bronze medal in the 100 kg category (Men)
• Rokuokehie Khawakhrie – Bronze medal in the 70 kg category (Men)
• Lhupra Vero – Bronze medal in the 60 kg category (Men)
Additionally, Team India secured two bronze medals in the Men’s Team Championship in Alysh Classic and Freestyle, received by India Team Coaches Vekhriyi Chuzho and Keneilel Kevin Rote.
In the Classic Style event held on Friday, Vevokho Ruho (90 kg, Men) and Haizuyile (65 kg, Women) also won bronze medals for Team India.
Team Nagaland is expected to return to Dimapur by May 26. The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) extended its gratitude to wrestling enthusiasts for their support, which contributed to this historic medal tally on the international stage.
