NPF Kohima through its press bureau has described the petition filed by the Noke-led NPF with the Election Commission of India (ECI) for recognition as the “original NPF” with the ‘Cock” symbol as “ a ploy to keep the dying fire of hope somehow burning in the Sovima camp after all their stunts and tricks proved to be miserable failure.”
The NPF bureau reminded citizens and party workers that Dr.Shürhozelie was unanimously elected as president at the party’s general convention on November 26,2014 where the two MPs including Noke, Kaito and Azo etc were present and had “raised hands in support of Dr. Shürhozelie’s election and congratulated him thereafter.”
It then asked, without following any prescribed procedure, “how can a bunch of disgruntled party leaders, hoist a parallel party president?”
The bureau concluded that in the eye of the law, “these Sovima campers have left the original NPF party” and floated a new party, which it said, was not the original NPF party with ‘Cock’symbol allotted by the ECI. The bureau maintained that the ECI “ cannot be misled or influenced by such cheap tactics” and that if Noke group wanted to register a new party, it was up to them. However the bureau said the ‘Cock’symbol can never be allotted to the “breakaway party” and at the most, the new party could be allotted the “Broiler-hen” as its symbol.
Central Youth Wing slams ‘rebel leaders’, says attention shifted to dismantle party
Reacting to the news that the NPF led by Noke Wangnao had petitioned the Election Commission of India (ECI) to recognise it as the original NPF with the Cock symbol, the NPF Central Youth Wing through its media cell, the “rebel legislators at Rio’s villas, Sovima” have shifted their attention to “dismantle one of the oldest regional party in the country with its majestic Cock symbol”, after having exhausted all means to “hijack the duly elected government” under chief minister T.R.Zeliang,
The youth wing also lamented that many NPF legislators in the “rebel camp” who were accorded privilege by the party to serve people, were now all out to dismantle the house for self interest.
Youth wing media cell also took a jab at the “illegitimate and self styled DAC convenor” in the rebel camp Nuzota Swuro for serving show cause notices on chief minister T.R.Zeliang, C.L.Jihna, Y.Patton, Yitachu and Kiyanilie Peseyie. The media cell termed it as a “total mockery just to bluff the people” since Nuzota did not even have either an active or primary membership of the legitimate NPF.
It also appealed to all party workers not to “be misled by the delusion created by rebel legislators but to faithfully stick to the legitimate NPF” as endorsed at the party’s general convention that was recognised by the ECI and the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
The youth wing also regretted that “even a veteran politician like Noke” among the “strong regional party-minded” has been swayed by “false hopes nurtured by his jealous colleagues in the rebel camp” and now all out “ to dismantle his own house”.
The wing also regretted that senior leaders like Kaito, Imkong L.Imchen and Azo and other upcoming young leaders have been “made scapegoat by a few power mongers like Mr.Neiphiu Rio and Khekiho, through all illusive hopes.”
Further, the youth wing also appealed to ECI not to entertain the petition filed by the “rebel group” that was trying to hijack the legitimate party by setting up a parallel body “through unconstitutional means” when there already was a duly recognised NPF running the government.
The youth wing also vowed that it will “fight with all available means to thwart such attempt by a few power mongers” who were trying to hijack the legitimate NPF party and destabilise the duly elected government.
It reiterated that unless due to a constitutional breakdown or any legally cognisable offence on the part of the chief minister or government, it will oppose any attempt to topple or demand change of leadership or government.
Youth wing said if “such power mongers” were allowed to hijack a constitutionally elected government whimsically, then it would set a “very bad precedence for younger generation” and cause the political system to go wayward. It also conveyed its sympathy on “those innocent legislators” in “captivity of “few rebel leaders under forced confinement at Niathu Resort.”
The youth wing alleged that legislators in “the rebel camp” had their mobiles seized and were not allowed to communicate” with anyone nor even to speak “their respective languages but only in Nagamese.” It also alleged that “rebel leaders” prevented legislators from reading newspaper articles by legitimate NPF party but only “newspaper clippings” issued by “ the rival camp”.
