PBCA & LTBC (WD) organise ‘Barefoot Prayer Walk’

Phom Baptist Christian Association (PBCA) and Longleng Town Baptist Church (LTBC) Women Department took a barefoot prayer walk on February 19 under the banner “Barefoot Prayer Walk for Clean Election 2018”.
A press release issued by PBCA and LTBC (WD) informed that the walk started from Lempong junction and ended at Hukphang-Bhumnyu junction covering the whole Longleng district main street. More than six hundred women folk in traditional attire walked the Longleng district street in prayer and songs. Prayer was conducted at four strategic points.
PBCA executive secretary, Tialemba Phom led the prayer by calling upon the citizens to abstain from selling votes, drinking alcohol, using guns-muscles and drugs. He asserted that one cannot come to a power over a citizen’s dead body. He stated that violence, bloodshed and evil intention should be shun and a Christ oriented clean election should be practiced. He also said that the pledge to follow Jesus Christ alone as was affirmed at NBCC triennial convention 2018 at ABAM with prayer and slogans for peace and clean election was chanted.
PBCA women secretary, Angbhen while taking over the last prayer phase encouraged the citizens tearfully to value life given by God. She stated that “There is life beyond election” and that no individual, family or society can exist without God’s blessing. She also voiced that people do not have the strength to take God’s wrath and we cannot bear His anger. She reminded the citizens that Phom land is called the “Land of Peace” saying the people have been given the purpose to preserve the God given peace through all circumstances. She emphasized on electing the right leader and prayed for through the reading of (Proverbs 29:2).
LTBC APW, Nyiamla led the thanksgiving prayer offered to God for blessing Longleng district to Phom people, for the peaceful situation, LTBC member, Ponglen led the gathered women members and surrounded citizens into confession and repentance. The citizen confessed the sin of corruption, money power and manipulation, sin against the great Jehovah God through its foolish and selfish act, and unrepentant heart.
PBCA Women Department and LTBCWD extends gratitude to the Women citizens of the district, district administration, SP office, media, 11 wards presidents, Phomla Hoichem and all the well wishers for making the prayer walk a beautiful testimony through necessary assistance, guidance and solidarity.
