State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) Medziphema organized a two day training on “Farm Journalism & Photography” on February 15 and 16 for ATMA functionaries to upgrade their skills on farm documentation at SAMETI Medziphema.
A press release issued by director SAMETI & principal IETC Medziphema stated that associate professor & head, Dr. K. K. Jha, associate professor, Dr. J. Longkumer, and audio visual specialist department of Agricultural Extension, NU: SASRD, Temjenmenba imparted the training on “Concept of Farm Journalism, Principles and Ethics of Farm journalism, role of Journalism and Mass Media, art of writing an article – writing news story and success story, writing for farm publications, creative photography and video techniques, handling camera and shooting in indoor and outdoor locations and do’s and don’ts in photography”. Practical sessions with hands on demonstrations on handling of cameras, writing of news stories and success stories were also done followed by presentations on them.
The valedictory function was chaired by deputy project director SAMETI, Sentinaro Longchar with vice principal & In-charge, Bio-Chemistry Lab, IETC Meziphema, Dr. Watimongla Jamir as the special guest. In her valedictory address, she challenged and encouraged the trainees to write, tell and spread the information on the latest agricultural technologies through skilful and innovative writings and photo presentations as farm journalism plays a crucial role in collecting, processing and dissemination of technology to the farmers and eliciting interest and motivation.
The programme concluded with distribution of certificates by the special guest, while a vote of thanks was said by deputy project director SAMETI, Vikaho Chophi. Altogether 22 trainees from different districts attended the training.
