Peace Channel organises leaders’ trg prog

Peace Channel, Peren Chapter conducted a leader’s training programme on Leadership Skills on February 18, at All Saints School, Peren.
Resource person of the programme, St. Xavier College, Jalukie principal Dr. Rev. Fr. Francis stressed on the concept of leadership and the skills needed for a good leader.
He initiated the session with some exercises where all the participants were involved into the activity .The main motive of initiating with an exercise was to make the session more participatory.
He then explained about the concept of leadership and the skills of a good leader. Some of the skills that he focused on were- risk taking capabilities, good visionary, courageous, good communication skills, team work, competency etc.
Emphasizing more on the topic, Fr. Francis also added that inorder to be an effective leader, one need to have a good influencing and convincing power, should have the potential and capability to demonstrate in performanceand live an exemplary life by being a doer and not just merely a speaker as it is mostly believed that action speaks louder than words.
He encouraged the gathering that he/she should have the skills to bring people together and unite them inspite of all differences and to accept and respect the differences as we all believe in one Supreme God.
He also reflected on the present scenario of Naga’s Society where he put forth an example on the quality of the leaders in the past and the present leadership quality we possess. The culture of hardmanship, truthfulness, patience, unity, love, belongingness merely existing the society at present. Thus, we have become the victims of our own deeds.
He concluded by saying that, to make a difference in life, We just have to keep pause for a while from our day to day lives, reflect, think, analyze, make a wise decision for a better and a brighter future.
Meanwhile, peace chanel project director Vikhuli, enlightened the participants with an insightful session on peace and peace building. She also encouraged the participants to join hands together and be a peace builder in the society.
Earlier, invocation prayer was pronounced by St. Paul Church, Peren parish priest Rev.Fr.Roy, welcome address and briefing of Peace Channel was delivered by Peren district coordinator Haipeurangbe Moses.
The programme also highlighted sharing of views, ideas and suggestions.
Later, vote of thanks was delivered by associate member of peace channel and teacher animator of All Saint’s School, Peren Peter.
Church and community leaders from Peren town attended the programme.
