NSF threatens to shut down DoSE, offices

Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has warned the government that the federation will not hesitate to close down the Directorate of School Education (DoSE) and the offices of implementing agencies (Mission Offices) if their demand, regarding distribution of materials in government schools, is not met.
A press release from NSF president, Kesosul Christopher Ltu and general secretary, Imtiyapang Imsong said that the NSF had served a Representation on October 22, 2017, to the Minister of School Education regarding serious delay in distribution of text books, study materials and school uniforms for the past few years. The federation had also indicated the shortage in supply of study materials and the manner in which school uniforms were being distributed only in the middle of the academic session, the press release said.
According to NSF, a reminder was also served January 25, 2018. However, almost all the government schools which had re-opened by the second week of February were yet to receive even a “single set” of text books and study materials, the federation alleged. “Like the previous years, the government schools are yet to receive the school uniforms”, it said.
NSF demanded that the text books, study materials and school uniforms for the students should be distributed at the earliest. It also added that if cloth is being given for stitching the uniforms, the stitching cost should be paid to the students.
