In view of the general elections, Kohima Village Youth Organisation (KVYO) reiterated its earlier resolutions to ensure smooth conduct of “free and fair election” under its ancestral land.
A press release by KVYO president, Medozhatuo Rutsa and general secretary, Ruokuoneitso Kire informed that KVYO will be strictly monitoring all the polling booths falling under its traditional jurisdiction coming under the following Assembly Constituencies (AC) – 10th Northern Angami 1, 9th Kohima Town and part of 8th Western Angami and 14th Southern Angami 1. KVYO also informed that, with the exception of those permitted by ECI and local recognised bodies, no outsiders other than those registered electorate of the particular polling booth shall be allowed entry into the restricted zones on the polling day. KVYO cautioned all residents not to entertain or host outside elements during this period in their private premises. The organisation also urged colony panchayats, especially youth bodies to assist in it and the law enforcement in ensuring that free and fair election takes place. KVYO further warned that any person or group caught involved in acts detrimental against KVYO standing resolution shall be severely and promptly dealt with. It also informed all concerned that KVYO will be raiding and checking all booze joints, bars, hotels and shops selling and serving alcohol till elections are over.
KVYO considered alcohol as a personal choice irrespective of its prohibition in our state. However public have been requested to understand the action which will compliment people’s desire for a peaceful atmosphere before and during the polls.
