Deputy chief minister Y. Patton, on Friday, said stern and immediate action should be initiated against irresponsible government servants. He was speaking as the special guest during the Lotha Students’ Union (LSU) office inauguration in Wokha. According to Patton, besides government efforts to improve quality education in government schools, most of the government schools in the state continue to produce nil results. However he stated that irresponsible teachers were to be blamed to a large extent for this, and he urged the student leaders to thoroughly check irresponsible teachers.
Patton also added that most of the departments in the district’s headquarters and sub divisions were becoming non resourceful and not meeting the needs of the public due to negligence of the officers. The deputy chief minister urged the district administration to be vigilant of those departments and report them to the government for further course of action.
He also asserted that the public should not always criticise the government highlighting mistakes or failures but it should learn to appreciate when the government works for the welfare of the people.
He also appealed to the district administration and to all the Lotha frontal organizations not to allow any new constructions at the stretch of National Highway-2 from Longsa gate to Mokokchung, as he stated that unnecessary compensations will hamper any further developmental activities. Y. Patton stated that the amount has been already earmarked and the construction work will be taken up at the earliest. Later Patton also inaugurated the newly constructed LSU, office building.
Phukayi, advisor, Food & civil Supply, NSDMA and LM&CP, also speaking at the inaugural function said that the Lotha tribe was achieving good things in many of the competitive fields.
He encouraged the Lotha upcoming generation to uphold the competitive culture in the long run.
The advisor also dwelt on the present state of Naga society and stated that the present Naga generation was heading nowhere due to lack of unity and disintegration. However, he stated that Nagas needed to learn socially and politically how to live together with positive attitudes. Subenthung Lotha, former president, LSU, also spoke on the occasion.
A welcome address was delivered by the LSU president Libemo Lotha, where he acknowledged the district forest department for donating the LSU office building site. The LSU office Building was officially dedicated by Rev. Nyanchumo Lotha, executive secretary, LBES. The inaugural program was attended by dignitaries including DGP, John Longkumer, Deputy Commissioner Wokha, SP Wokha, DFO Wokha, Lotha Hoho and Lotha Women Hoho officials.
