SPS students learn about Mithun at ICAR

Students of UKG from Shalom Public School (SPS) Chumukedima visited ICAR –NRC on Mithun and ICAR Nagaland Centre, Medziphema on August 29 as part of their extracurricular activities, led by teacher Ketholeno.

A press release from ICAR-NRC on Mithun stated that, though Nagaland owned 34,871 numbers of mithun  (2012 census), many children living in towns were yet to see a mithun in real life.

While visiting the laboratories, students had an opportunity to interact with some scientists and they also witnessed scientific rearing of mithun under semi-intensive and intensive systems in the institute’s farm. About 110 mithuns are being maintained in a model mithun farm, the release stated.
