
The second phase on-campus training program on “Piggery Management Training for Livestock Service Providers (LSPs) of Phek district” was organised by ICAR, Nagaland Centre and Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Dimapur at ICAR-RC for NEH Region, Nagaland Centre, Medziphema from September 25 to 27 in collaboration with North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) supported by Tata Trust, in collaboration. Altogether 14 LSPs and three officials from Chakhesang Women Welfare Society (CWWS) attended the training program.
A press release from ICAR stated that during the training program, participants were made aware of the important scientific management practices.
Trainees were also exposed to various practical demonstrations like routine farm operation etc and they also visited a progressive farmer’s field in Medziphema.
The program ended with a valedictory session where joint director, ICAR, Nagaland Centre, Dr. D. J. Rajkhowa spoke about the importance of pig rearing. Feed being the major constraint in pig breeding, he encouraged the formation of feed producing farmers through contract farming in all the 11 districts.
