
The Department of English, St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama organized its 24th Literary Fest on September 20, at the college Indoor Stadium, under the theme ‘Explore Beauty in Art’.
A press release from the college said James H.K, head of department declared the fest open with an inspiring message of ‘Carpe Diem’.
Different competitions were held which included folk song, debate on the theme ‘Mobile phone is a blessing’ — moderated by Dr. Sumi Daa-Dhora, dance competition, duet, poetry recitation, declamation, painting, story writing and poetry composition.
A light hearted ‘Miss Shakespeare 2018’ presentation by the students of 3rd semester entertained the gathering. Dr. Kehlsoril Wanbe was crowned Miss Shakespeare 2018. The program conclusion was the honouring of students who bagged the competition prizes for various items, which was graced by Dr. Sumi, HoD of PG/MA section of the English department.
M.A English students of the department also participated and competed in the fest. The overall champion prize was bagged by Team Austen- 5th Semester, Section ‘F’. The program was hosted by Tsachumse and Mary Longoi.
Earlier, the fest began with an invocation of God’s blessing led by Angela, CMC, which was followed by the welcome address delivered by Pewe-u Tunyi, president of English department.
