
Women Development Cell and NSS unit of Sakus Mission College (SMC) organized a self defense training for girls in collaboration with 32 Assam Rifles from September 24 to 28, at the college campus.
A press release from Dr. Samuel Longkumer of SMC stated that the training program aimed to build the self-confidence of the girls and help them learn self-defensive techniques to protect themselves and others. Trainers were from the National Defense Academy and Assam Rifles, who trained the participants on the various techniques. Along with SMC girl students, girls from other colleges, hostels and residents from the locality also participated in large numbers.
The inaugural program of the five day training was graced by Major Y.S. Sheoran of 36 Assam Rifles on September 24. The training closed with a short function in the presence of Lt.Col. Arun Kumar, 32 Assam Rifles and Major Y.S. Sheoran, 36 Assam Rifles on September 28, where some girl trainees demonstrated some defensive skills they had learnt. NSS Unit and WDC of SMC has expressed sincere gratitude to Assam Rifles for their selfless support in this venture.
