A day after Centre had decided to cut diesel and petrol prices by Rs. 2.50 per litre, PDA government on Friday followed suit by announcing a matching Rs 2.50 cut in fuel prices, taking the total reduction to Rs 5 per litre.
Informing this in a tweet, chief minister Neiphiu Rio said: “We have cut taxes on Petroleum products to make fuel cheaper by Rs 2.50 per litre in addition to the reduction of Rs 2.50 by Govt. of India yesterday. Petrol & Diesel will be cheaper by Rs 5 per litre.”
Around 12 BJP-ruled states have also slashed petrol prices by Rs. 2.50 per litre in addition to the Central relief.
Meanwhile, the Finance department (Revenue branch) in a notification informed that the taxes for diesel have been slashed from 13.5% to 10 % and Motor Spirit from 23.5% to 20.38% with effect from midnight of October 6, 2018.
