Youth commits suicide inside police lock up

An 18-year-old boy allegedly committed suicide inside the lock up at Mon police station on Thursday night. 

The deceased has been identified as Rolongse aka Akum. 

According to reports, he reportedly committed suicide by hanging himself with his belt. The deceased reportedly worked as a handyman at Super Travels. 

He was detained by police patrol team while quarrelling with fellow handyman at private bus station. 

The other handyman who fled was picked up on Friday morning and brought to Mon police station for inquiry. According to the police, the deceased was kept at the lockup as a precautionary measure and to inquire about the altercation. 

In this connection, ASI Sobu Rengma and UBC A. Yeanghi have been suspended for negligence and dereliction of duty.
