Ao Baptist Church Association (ABAM) and Assam Baptist Convention (ABC) held its first joint fellowship on October 4 at Covenant hall, Impur.
A press release by ABAM stated that the fellowship was organised to encourage and build a strong rapport and to work together in God’s mission.
ABAM executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Mar Atsongchanger, during the fellowship, stated that for the first time a fellowship was being held at Impur with ABC.
Remembering the many historic events between the people of Assam and the Ao Nagas, he said Evangelist Godhula Brown from Sibsagar, Assam had been in the limelight following his historic entry to Naga hill in 1871 as a forerunner of Dr. Edward Clark. Rev. Dr. Mar said that since then the ABC and ABAM have always been closer than any other associations. He further promised to maintain a stronger bond with the convention. ABC general secretary, Rev. Benard K Marak, who attended the fellowship with 20 leaders representing six associations, said fellowship was more than a fellowship as it aims to build a stronger relationship with ABAM.
He said the convention also aims to build 10000 churches by 2030 in Assam. Following the fellowship, ABC held its executive committee meeting on October 4 & 5 in Impur.
