The District Executive Force (DEF) Wokha in collaboration with Witter Theological College (WTC) organized an awareness program on use of social media through a street play on October 8 at Police Point, Wokha.
DIPR reports that while delivering the key note address, principal WTC, Vankhosung said that we live in an era of technology with multiple media platforms to disseminate information. Since such means transmit information at the macro level, there is every possibility to proliferate rumours and other forms of false information, he said.
Later, students of WTC performed a street play on ‘Fake news on child lifting’, ‘Blackmailing’, and ‘internet fraud’. The play touched on how Naga ancestors in the olden days believed in the communitarian way of life where unity, truthfulness, sharing of wealth and life and helping one another during good and bad times as well as even during cultivation were the ethos on which the society was based.
The function was chaired by S. Ekonthung Ezung and a vote of thanks was proposed by additional SP Wokha, Tumchobemo Yanthan.
