A four-day training program on promotion of organic farming in Nagaland organised by Extension Education Institute – North East Region (EEI- NER), Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Jorhat in collaboration with State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Nagaland concluded on September 28 at SAMETI, Medziphema.
A release by SAMETI, Medziphema stated that the main objective of the training was to impart knowledge and skills on production of agricultural products free from chemicals and pesticides by adopting eco friendly low cost technologies.
The resource persons for the training program were professor Dr. A.K. Bhattacharya from EEI, Assam Agriculture University (AAU), Jorhat and professor Dr. R. Baruah from department of Soil Science (AAU) Jorhat.
The release stated that the training program had both theoretical and practical sessions on various topics and that the trainees also visited the Bio control laboratory, Bio fertilizer laboratory and Agri. chemistry laboratory in Medziphema.
The valedictory function was chaired by vice principal, IETC and in-charge Agri Chemistry Laboratory, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, while feedback from the trainees was given by A.I. Bio Control Lab, Medziphema, Dr. Moasunep and ATM (ATMA), Zunheboto, Lily Tungoe.
In their valedictory address, Dr. A.K. Bhattacharya and Dr. R. Baruah encouraged the trainees to impart the knowledge and experience gained during the training to the farming community and to assist and help farmers adopt sustainable and environmental friendly cultivation methods.
