In its efforts to build a better relationships with the local populations, Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (N) carry out various events across the state. Following are some reports from across the state.
Shamatore Battalion: Shamatore Battalion (45 Assam Rifles) conducted a painting competition at Government Primary School, C/Saddle village and Straightway Mission School, Dan Village, Tuensang district on October 19. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), the aim of the competition was to encourage children to pursue extracurricular activities for overall development. 42 students participated in the competition.
Tuensang Battalion: Tuensang Battalion of Assam Rifles organized a national integration tour from October 12 to 20 to Shillong and Guwahati for 15 students and two teachers from Tuensang district. According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the tour which started on October 12, was flagged in Tuensang by Cdr, 7 Sector Assam Rifles on October 20. The aim of the educational and motivational tour was to provide exposure to diverse cultures and development activities going on in other parts of North East. Apart from the visiting various places of tourist, cultural and historical interest, the students had an audience with Tathagata Roy, Governor of Meghalaya and senior officers of HQ DGAR.
Kohima battalion: Kohima Assam Rifles battalion under the aegis of IGAR (North) organized a lecture on “Today’s Youth Tomorrow’s Future” at Fernwood School, Forest colony Kohima on October 18. According to PRO, HQ IGAR (N), the lecture focused on imparting knowledge about the power of youth and their responsibility towards society. During the lecture, aspects like skill development, initiatives of Government of India for empowerment of youth, were shared with the students. 67 students and seven teachers of Fernwood School attended the event.
Kiphire Battalion: Kiphire Battalion (7 Assam Rifles) conducted a lecture on “world statistics day” at company operating base Anutongre and Pungro on October 20. A press release by PRO, HQ IGAR (N) said that the aim of the lecture was to create awareness on the indispensablity of good data and statistics for informed decision making, socio-economic planning and in building and functioning of modern societies. 42 local residents attended the lecture.
